Hearthstone Battlegrounds Demon Nerf!

There is a demon nerf incoming in Hearthstone Battlegrounds. If you’ve been playing lately, you’ve probably had some of these thoughts:

Why did Soul Juggler get buffed?
Did the demon tribe really need more low tier demons to make stacking Wrath Weaver easier?
Why is Warcraft 3 Reforged so awful?

I don’t have answers to these questions, but I am ecstatic that demons are finally going to be less oppressive.

Chris Attalus, a Blizzard Community Manager, has posted on Reddit that a balance patch is incoming.

There’s not a lot to it. Quite simply, Floating Watcher is going from Tier 3 to Tier 4.

So what does this mean?

For one thing, it means that you can’t discover a watcher off a discover when you’re at tier 2. This is huge, because it delays the power spike of demon boards. Demon players will also have to upgrade earlier so they can try to find this minion, which is another delay to the demon power spike.

There are also less of each minion at higher tiers. Whereas there are 13 copies of a minion at tier 3, there are only 11 copies at tier 4. This will make hunting for Floating Watcher that much harder.

Poisonous minions are rare in Hearthstone Battlegrounds, but this nerf means that you won’t be penalized as harshly if you don’t have a poisonous murloc.

Jaraxxas will likely remain unchanged, as his innate demon synergy will still be subpar.

This is a huge nerf to A. F. Kay, as now she can’t autowin off of lucky discovers on turn 3. Don’t pick her until the next big balance update.

Rafaam might benefit from this, as he can snatch up the rarer watchers with his hero power…if you get lucky.

While I do agree with the mechanic of trading your hero’s health for stats, Wrath Weaver and Floating Watcher synergy has just been bonkers for too long. For the time being, I suggest playing mechs.
